Puppy Workshops

Our puppy workshops provide a safe environment for your pup to enjoy supervised play with other dogs close to his or her own age and development. Positive exposure to a variety of other dogs not only allows puppies to have fun and burn energy, but helps them develop critical social skills which will serve them for the rest of their lives.

While the puppies play, work with an experienced trainer to gain valuable insight into your puppy’s development and get answers to all of your questions.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there an age restriction?

Sessions are designed for puppies up to six months old.

Is walk-in attendance available?

No, please contact 908-941-0606 to register to attend puppy workshop.

Can more than one family member attend?

Yes! Good puppy socialization includes meeting new people, too, so we’re happy to have the whole family involved, including children who are comfortable with dogs.

Please do keep in mind that the puppies at workshop are very young and there will be a certain amount of jumping and mouthing. Our playroom is designed in such a way that anyone more comfortable observing from outside the play area will be able to do so.

How many puppies are at each session?

Session size varies from week to week but averages 3-6 puppies. The group will always be kept small enough for safety and to allow you and your puppy individual attention from our trainer.

Is this an obedience class?

No, we don’t start true obedience work until dogs are a minimum of six months old (more on this here). The focus of puppy workshop is on play and socialization, which are the most valuable activities for dogs of this age.

Do I need to bring anything?

No, other than your puppy’s most recent vaccination report at your first session. The puppies will be playing for the majority of the hour and all collars, leashes, and harnesses are removed for safety. Toys and water will be provided.

do workshops meet in-person?

Yes. Few things are as critical to a young puppy’s development into a well-adjusted adult dog as consistent socialization with a variety of other dogs and people.

what should i expect at my puppy’s first session?

Many puppies are excited to play right from the start, but a first session can initially be overwhelming and it may take some time for your puppy to come out of their shell. After all, they’re in a new place and a lot of new friends will be trying to play with them!

While it can be uncomfortable for some owners to see their dog experience this, we encourage you to give it time and allow our trainer to help you and your pup navigate the process. Most of our most timid first-time puppies now run into the playroom excited and ready to go.
